Lately I’ve been doing a lot of thinking regarding trial products, and one thing that is very frustrating is the lack of extended trial licences for bloggers, tech evangelist, and engineers, etc. There are many products I would like to try in order to demo the product and its features completely; however, most Vendors/Manufactures only want to give you a small trial window, which makes it difficult to truly get an accurate feel for the product and its features. Nevertheless, Vendors/Manufactures have to protect their product from unfortunate individuals who wish to utilize free trails within the scope of production, which is in no way fair to the Vendor/Manufacture of the product. Fortunately, Veeam must have listened to individuals, like myself, who have requested a solution to this problem. Introducing Veeam NFR! Veeam NFR (Not For Resale) is an extended trial license key (1 year trial, up to 2 sockets), which is to be used in home lab/test environments. This is a huge step above most 30 day trials, and it gives users an extended time frame in which to thoroughly test the product. This is a huge benefit to the manufactures that utilize these extended license keys, since the payoff of having bloggers, tech evangelist, and engineers try and use the product is priceless!
According to Veeam’s website, individuals with the following certifications are eligible for the NFR licence.
- Veeam Certified Engineers (VMCEs)
- VMware vExperts
- VMware Certified Professionals (VCPs)
- VMware Certified Advanced Professionals (VCAPs)
- Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs)
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Experts (MCSEs)
The website also states that individuals that don’t have the above certifications can reach out to the Veeam Community Coordinator in order to request a key.
So what are you waiting for? Head to Veeam and get your NFR license key today! Since I recently obtained my VCP6-DCV, I was eligible to claim my NFR license key. I plan to thoroughly test and blog the results in the near future!
